About Mohamed Hage

Mohamed received his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Science from the University of Calgary in 2022, before obtaining his Juris Doctor from the University of Calgary's Faculty of Law in 2025.

During law school, Mohamed volunteered with both Pro Bono Students Canada (on the Parental Substance Use Disorder Project and with the King's Bench Court Assistance Program) and with Student Legal Assistance (SLA) as a Volunteer Caseworker. In his first-year summer as a law student, Mohamed worked as a Legal Research Assistant within the Faculty of Law, and gained research experience working with several Faculty members on their research projects. In his second-year summer, Mohamed worked as a Summer Caseworker with SLA, where he had the opportunity to gain practical experience in providing legal services to marginalized populations in the Calgary area, including preparing for and running his first Criminal trial. Throughout his final year of law school, Mohamed served as the Outreach Coordinator for SLA, coordinating on-site intake sessions with several of SLA's partner organizations. In addition, he participated in the SLA Clinical Course, which allowed him to carry on a sizeable number of files throughout law school and to continue building his practical experience, particularly in Criminal law.

As a result of his contributions to SLA during law school, Mohamed was awarded the Honourable Justice Michelle C. Christopher 2025 Student Ambassador Award, recognizing exemplary service to SLA, and outstanding representation of SLA in the legal community. He was also awarded the Gary J. Bigg Memorial Award in Advocacy by the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association upon graduating, based on his overall volunteer contributions during law school.

Mohamed completed his articles with SLA, during which he dealt with some of SLA's most complex files, including Criminal, Civil, Family, Traffic, and Administrative matters, and ranging from simple negotiations and court appearances all the way to trials. During this period, Mohamed both expanded significantly on his legal knowledge and skills, while also providing assistance and mentorship to SLA's incoming caseworkers.

Through these experiences, Mohamed received valuable insights into the realities of legal practice as he progressed through his legal education. And building on his passion for Criminal law and for access to justice, Mohamed is excited to take what he has learned and become an even stronger advocate once he is called to the bar.
