About Sam Taylor

Sam Taylor is an Associate Lawyer at Snukal Law, and Strategic Criminal Defence, an association of independent law practices. Sam began working with Rebecca in 2020 as a first-year summer law student. He graduated from Mount Royal University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Health and Physical Education. In his final year of this program, he decided to change his career trajectory to pursue his passion for the criminal justice system by attending law school.

Although a recently minted lawyer, Sam has years of experience in criminal law and has already established himself as a strong advocate for his clients, with particular success at securing his client's release while continuing to fight for their best interests.

Sam has a unique perspective on the criminal justice system compared to most criminal defence lawyers. Before attending law school, he worked as a clerk of the Provincial Criminal Court. Through this experience, he worked with the very judges who hear criminal cases and got to see how the criminal justice system operates from the inside. During law school, Sam was an active member of UCalgary’s Faculty of Law Student Legal Assistance program and worked at the Alberta Crown Prosecutor’s office as a summer student.

Sam was successfully called to the Alberta bar in August 2023.

Working as an articling student, and now Associate for Rebecca Snukal K.C., Sam has already handled hundreds of cases covering a variety of charges including assault and aggravated assault, drug and property offences, arson, and attempted murder, and has assisted on countless other files including the most serious offences in the Criminal Code.

Sam has built a strong reputation amongst the legal profession for his professionalism, knowledge, and work ethic. This is exemplified by his successful nomination to the Board of Directors of the Criminal Defence Lawyer's Association (Calgary) as a 1st year lawyer, a role which he was re-elected to in the Fall of 2024.
